Biography

Greg Chapman is at once an Artist, Architect, Runner, and Adventurer who, along with his wife and high school sweetheart Laura, is inspired by art, nature, people, and travel.

Born in rural Indiana to an artist Mother and an engineer Father, his creative spark ignited with early pencil and crayon drawings. 

Passions turned technical during high school and college as he became enamored with architecture and the built environment.  Dedicated and decidedly goal-oriented, he enjoyed a successful career as an accomplished Architect and accredited LEED professional.  Fascinated with sustainable and environmentally friendly design, his projects have received national acclaim.

Capitalizing on an enthusiasm for travel and outdoor adventure, his instinctive talent for creating dramatic compositions serves as motivation for his colorful modern artwork.

Interest in ancient architectural forms has swept him across the globe studying indigenous structures and capturing magnificent landscape scenery.  Travel has nurtured an understanding of the significance that Art and Architecture plays in bridging diverse cultures and enriching lives of those around us.

Currently residing in Idaho, Mr. Chapman is a life-long runner who enjoys an active lifestyle bursting with backpacking, travel, and grand-kids!

Artist Statement

Energy.  Movement.  Passion. 

Travel educates and immerses me in endless varieties of cultures and places. 

Sketching is visual thinking that refines scene concepts and compositions; never copying but capturing the emotional and visceral attachment to shifting landscapes and light.

Painting is creativity unleashed.  Fun.  Dynamic.  Imaginative.

With bold strokes, vibrant colors, dramatic texture, and an intensely personal style that dances across the canvas in rhythmic expressions of whimsy, I interpret nature and the built environment by blurring the distinction between the real and the surreal. 

My paintings are joyous, colorful, and vibrant where every brush stroke is spontaneous, and each color retains its fresh individual identity.
